Martin Whitaker is the General Manager of the Bahrain International Circuit, the home of the FIA Formula One World Championship in the Middle East. The BIC is fast gaining a reputation as a destination for corporate entertainment and incentive travel with an impressive array of activities including the Middle East’s only BMW Performance Center and the region’s leading Off-Road 4x4 venue.

Martin began his motorsport career in journalism working for the British specialist publication Motoring News before joining the RAC Motor Sports Association and then moving on to the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Spells at both FOCA TV and the FIA were followed by a role at McLaren International before becoming Director of Motorsport at Ford Motor Company, where he was responsible for the company’s activities in both the FIA Formula One and World Rally Championships.

Martin then joined the event promotion and communication specialists KHP Consulting Ltd in London working on such projects as the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and the operational consultancy for the then new Grand Prix circuits in Shanghai and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
